Corporate design, custom typeface, website and Art Direction for the Berlin based contemporary lighting label Analog. The label was founded by product designer Philipp Weber and Berlin Glassworks, Berlin’s first and only hotshop. Philipp asked me to design a brand identity for the launch of the new label in 2019. In 2020 I joined the label as Creative Director Brand.
Analog Antiqua is a custom typeface that I drew for the brand and that is used for all communication materials like the website or a folded poster that was produced for the launch of the first series at Alcova 19 during Milan Design Week 2019.
The typeface originated in my effort to reinterpret Times New Roman by digitally redrawing it from my memory. My intention was to achieve a hand drawn character with digital tools. When Philipp approached me with the request to design an identity for Analog I came to realise that the typeface could be an appropriate visual representation of Analog’s deep roots in craftsmanship.
I designed the brand’s website that covers the products as well as projects like exhibitions, installations and creative research. The website was coded by Jens Buss.
Beginning of 2020 I provided art direction for the shooting of the brand’s first series Of Movement and Material that was shot in Berlin and Cologne by photographer Thomas Wiuf Schwartz.
